05 · UPGRADING EQUIPMENT
Scrolls, potential, enhancement and Nebulites, explained separately.
These systems improve different parts of an item. A cube does not restore a failed scroll slot, a star does not add a potential line, and @liner does not turn a clean item into a potential item.
A sensible order: choose a piece worth keeping → add a useful Nebulite and usable potential → add missing potential lines if worthwhile → scroll it → enhance when no scroll slots remain → improve your socket and potential as your budget grows. Nebulites are a major power source; you do not need to finish scrolling or stars before using one.
Kanata Scrolls
Collect Scroll Fragments while hunting and exchange them through @ss → Scroll Fragment exchange.
Scroll Fragment
| Scroll | Success | Fragments |
|---|---|---|
| Kanata Scroll: Steady | 70% | 55 |
| Kanata Scroll: Bold | 40% | 82 |
| Kanata Scroll: Wild | 30% | 123 |
Steady ·
Bold ·
Wild
On a successful attempt, the main armor stat gains 2 / 4 / 7, while the corresponding weapon attack or magic attack gain is 1 / 2 / 5. Gloves and shoes use their own attack/magic-attack gains of 1 / 2 / 3. Shared armor uses the scrolling character's class to choose the relevant stat; read the exchange's description before scrolling gear for another class. Wild weapons also have their class-specific main-stat bonus.
Kanata Scrolls do not destroy your equipment. Without protection, a failed attempt still costs the scroll and a slot.
Unfunded: Steady offers more successful attempts from a small supply of fragments. Use it to make a functional item rather than expecting a perfect result from a handful of rolls.
Funded: Wild offers larger successful gains, but its lower chance can consume a lot of materials. Budget protection and recovery as well as the scrolls themselves.
Northstar protection
Northstar White Scroll · 165 fragments
When you use Northstar protection with a Kanata Scroll:
| Result | What is used | What you keep |
|---|---|---|
| Success | The Kanata Scroll | Northstar remains |
| Failure | Northstar | The Kanata Scroll and upgrade slot remain |
That protection is especially useful when you are improving a lasting item with expensive scrolls. Have the required protection selected for the attempt; simply owning one is not a reason to ignore the upgrade window.
Other scroll types follow their own White Scroll rules. Do not assume the Kanata Scroll preservation rule applies to every scroll in the game.
Recovering slots and starting over
Moonlit Clean Slate Scroll 20% · 82 fragments
On success, Moonlit restores up to two slots lost to failed scrolling. It does not create extra slots beyond the item's recoverable allowance, and it does not undo successful scrolls.
Dawnlight Innocence Scroll
Craft one Dawnlight through the fragment-exchange menu using 1 Northstar White Scroll + 1 Moonlit Clean Slate Scroll 20%. It removes the equipment's scrolling gains and restores its original scroll allowance, so you can start the scrolling again. It preserves separate systems such as potential, Nebulite and enhancement stars.

Dawnlight is a reset, not a small repair. You are giving up the item's successful scrolling as well. Use Moonlit for recoverable failed slots; use Dawnlight when you intentionally want to redo the scrolling. Cash equipment and pet equipment are not valid targets.
Potential and Miracle Cubes
Potential supplies the separate bonus lines on equipment. If an item has no potential, use an appropriate Potential Scroll first and read its success and failure terms. Use a suitable magnifying glass when the chosen reveal or quick-cube path requires one. The item must already have potential; a cube is not a way to create potential on a blank item.
Miracle Cube · 650 NX
Miracle Cubes reroll existing potential. The potential progression is Rare → Epic → Unique. Unique is the ceiling here; do not plan around a Legendary tier.
Current tier-up chances are 12% from Rare to Epic and 6% from Epic to Unique per eligible roll. Those are chances, not a guarantee after a fixed number of cubes. A Unique item can still need many rolls to get useful lines.
Look for lines that help your actual build. Main stat, attack or magic attack, and useful combat bonuses should be compared with what you lose by replacing the current roll. Do not reroll a working piece just because someone else's screenshot has a better number.
Adding a third line
@liner costs 5,000,000 mesos to bring an eligible one- or two-line potential item to three lines. The item must already have potential. Hidden potential can also qualify; the service reveals the resulting lines.
It does not raise the potential tier and does not create potential on a blank item. For a lasting two-line piece, unlocking the third line can be a clearer goal than endlessly rolling the same two lines.
Keep the target unequipped when using the cube tool, and leave room for Cube Fragments. The inventory quick-cube window uses one appropriate magnifying glass per roll and produces a Cube Fragment, so keep glasses and Use space ready. The normal cube-use path has its own behavior; do not assume every way of using a cube consumes a glass.
Enhancement stars
Enhancement becomes available once the item has no remaining scroll slots. Both regular and Advanced Equip Enhancement Scrolls can add stars.
| Current stars | Advanced scroll | Regular scroll |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | 90% | 70% |
| 5 | 40% | 20% |
| 10-19 | 5% | 3% |
| 20-99 | 1.5% | 0.5% |
The earlier chances decrease as stars rise; at 9 stars the Advanced scroll already uses 5%. The table highlights a few useful checkpoints rather than every attempt.
An enhancement failure consumes the scroll but does not destroy the item or remove a star. Attempts starting at 20 stars cost 1,000,000 mesos each, in addition to the scroll. The maximum is 100 stars.
Worth it early: a modest number of stars on something you will keep. Usually a poor first goal: chasing extremely high stars while your weapon, potential or accessory slots are still weak. The low late-game chances make the full cost much larger than one attempt's price.
Sockets and Nebulites
Nebulite Socket Creator ·
Nebulite Box ·
Alien Cube
Nebulites are a major source of power, adding a separate socketed bonus alongside potential, scrolling and enhancement. Open Nebulite Boxes, compare the effect and equipment restrictions, and socket a useful one into a piece you will keep. A good main-stat or All Stats stone is worth considering well before perfect endgame equipment.
| Tool | Price / use |
|---|---|
| Nebulite Socket Creator | 5,000 mesos; available through the @ss shop |
| Nebulite Diffuser | 50,000 mesos; removes a socketed Nebulite |
| Nebulite Fusion Ticket | 100,000 mesos; required by applicable fusion recipes |
| Alien Cube | Used for Nebulite rerolling/upgrading; separate from Miracle Cubes |
Alien Cubes are available from Miu Miu and eligible hunting drops.
Alien Cube meso charges by starting grade are D: 250,000 · C: 500,000 · B: 600,000 · A: 1,000,000. S and SSS uses reroll their grade; SSS is reached through fusion rather than a promised Alien Cube tier-up.
Read the selected Nebulite and the confirmation before replacing one. Better grades and specific useful effects are long-term goals; a modest effect that helps your build is enough to begin.
