01 · FIRST STEPS

A simple start for a new Kanata character.

Characters begin at level 10 in the Kanata world, with tutorials skipped. Your first normal-world character also receives an account-once starter gift: 10,000,000 mesos, 10,000 NX, 100 White Potions, 100 Mana Elixirs and 20 Return Scrolls to Nearest Town. Later characters do not receive another starter gift. The level cap is 250, including Cygnus Knights.

Before your first training session

  1. Register through the Kanata website and use that account to log into the game. Let the launcher finish updating before you open the client.
  2. Choose a class you enjoy controlling. You will spend much more time using its movement and attacks than comparing a damage ranking.
  3. Put your attacks, potions, movement skill and buffs on comfortable keys. Spend your skill points as you unlock new skills.
  4. Keep money for potions and travel. Hunting drops provide class-appropriate equipment as you level, so use those first and save most QP for lasting gear.
  5. Open F8: Monster Book. Use it to search monsters, maps, items and your own drop chances.
  6. Type @gear for equipment information and @achievements for account goals. Use @vote, then @vps, and get 2x EXP before training. Keep it active through your hunting session.

Monster Book search

All normal-world hunting routes assume active 2x EXP. Treat it as mandatory training preparation: four hours costs 1.5 VP and eight hours costs 2.5 VP, from a daily 4 VP vote reward. You do not need to donate for it. The rental doubles eligible monster EXP; it does not double quest turn-in rewards. Chaos does not use these normal-world account rentals.

Choose your class

Family Available paths
Explorer Warriors Hero, Paladin, Dark Knight
Explorer Magicians Arch Mage (Fire/Poison), Arch Mage (Ice/Lightning), Bishop
Explorer Bowmen Bowmaster, Marksman
Explorer Thieves Night Lord, Shadower; Dual Blade has its own path
Explorer Pirates Buccaneer, Corsair
Cygnus Knights Dawn Warrior, Blaze Wizard, Wind Archer, Night Walker, Thunder Breaker
Heroes Aran, Evan
Resistance Battle Mage, Wild Hunter, Mechanic

For a first character: favor a class whose attacks and movement feel comfortable without a large equipment budget. Test how easily you can reach and hit a whole group of monsters. Support, range and simple map coverage are useful even when they do not appear on a damage comparison.

For an existing account: equipment that fits your class, a good weapon and supplies let you move through the early levels faster. Strong gear still does not make a map good if your attacks cannot cover it.

Where your AP goes

Kanata ignores secondary-stat equipment requirements. You do not need to add DEX or LUK just because an old equipment tooltip asks for it.

Main stat Classes
STR Warriors, Aran, Dawn Warrior, Buccaneer, Thunder Breaker
DEX Bowmaster, Marksman, Wind Archer, Wild Hunter, Corsair, Mechanic
INT Magicians, Blaze Wizard, Evan, Battle Mage
LUK Night Lord, Shadower, Dual Blade, Night Walker

@ap means Auto Pickup. It does not spend Ability Points. Assign your AP through the character stat window.

Job advancement

Advancement happens automatically when you qualify and are outside a busy dialog or instance. If your job branches, a choice appears. Finish the current activity and close other windows if the choice has not appeared yet.

Path Advancement levels
Explorers, Aran, Resistance 10 → 30 → 70 → 120
Cygnus Knights 10 → 30 → 70; continue leveling to 250 with that path
Evan 10 → 20 → 30 → 40 → 50 → 60 → 80 → 100 → 120 → 160
New Dual Blade characters Blade Recruit 10 → Blade Acolyte 20 → Blade Specialist 30 → Blade Lord 55 → Blade Master 120

Do not wait for an old retail advancement quest to appear before using your new skills. Check the skill window after advancing.

The current world basics

Setting Kanata
EXP 4×
Drops 3× base rate; some reward types have separate rules
Mesos 4×
Level cap 250
New character Level 10; starter mesos, NX and supplies are once per account
Normal PQ group 2-6 players, together and alive at entry
Weekly entries 12 per boss activity; 8 per PQ activity, per account and world
Weekly reset Thursday at 00:00, Dutch time

Separate card, equipment and special-drop rules mean that multiplying everything by the base drop rate will give the wrong result. Monster Book and @drops show the useful personal numbers.

Dojo has its own 8 fresh runs per week. Other special activities can have additional conditions; check their entrance rather than treating every activity as an ordinary PQ.

A good first-session goal

Reach your next advancement, learn a comfortable training loop, and leave with a useful weapon and some materials saved. If you want an early custom story, talk to Lune in Henesys for The Far Side at level 10.

You do not need to finish every system at once. Cards, QP, equipment, quests and achievements can grow alongside your levels.
